Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element)Ability to Drive Safely (Motor Vehicles) and Ability to Operate Safely (Non-Motor Vehicle)Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation)Operation of Motor VehiclesReliability and Dependability as a Mobile Equipment OperatorWork Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) The small craft operators occasionally lift and carry parts and equipment weighing 23 kilograms (50 pounds) or more. Assistance is usually available with heavy or bulky equipment. Moderate effort is required during general maintenance work. Coordination of hands, eyes, body, and legs is needed to work safely on wet and moving decks, climbing up and down ladders, or transferring from one boat to another. The small craft operators work on deck, exposed to sun, wind, spray, rain, and ice during year around operations. They are exposed to the possibility of falling overboard, thus a life jacket is worn at all times. Other protective devices such as foul weather Gear, safety shoes and ear protectors may be required. Possible injuries include sprains or broken bones caused by falls on deck.
