Human Resources Assistant

Researches complex and sensitive problems in the administration of these benefit programs in order to understand their interrelationships with one another and to provide the best customer service to all employees. Conducts one-on-one benefits counseling to new and separating employees and during Open Season periods. Assists in processing appointments of new employees by preparing new employee packets and instructing employees in the completion of all required forms including benefits elections. Processes requests for the Voluntary Leave Transfer Program (VLTP). Counsels employees regarding the VLTP and necessary documentation needed to apply for the program. Performs a complete review and analysis of the submitted VLTP application and medical documentation and will make a decision regarding an initial eligibility determination. Verifies military service against certified documents received and assures that all necessary forms are in order. Keeps employees updated on program benefit changes. Screens nominations for special contribution, superior performance, and other awards for adequacy of documentation, completeness and regulatory compliance. Processes and types memos, certificates, logs, etc. in support of the awards programs including special contribution, supervisor performance, service and other awards and retirement. Work Schedule:

Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to preparing vacancy announcements, making eligibility and qualifications determinations, and preparing certificates of qualified candidates to hiring officials; extending offers of employment; completing requirements in the hiring process; and processing a wide range of personnel actions in HR information systems. There is no education substitution for this grade. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position:

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
