Health Physicist

Major duties and responsibilities include:
Assisting with the implementation of the VA Medical Center radiation safety program to ensure compliance with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission license, National Health Physics program, and other applicable directives and regulations. Conducting radiation safety audits of research labs and clinics. Monitors radiation safety receipt inspection of shipments of radioactive materials. Performing radiation safety functions associated with the therapeutic use of radiopharmaceuticals. Assisting in the investigation of accidents, incidents, spills, overexposures, lost of misplaced sources of radiation. Preparing and conducting radiation safety training programs. Ensuring all logs, records, and reports are complete, legible, up-to-date, and readily retrievable. Performing other radiation safety program duties as assigned. Work Schedule:

This is a part-time position (20 hours/week). The salary listed represents full-time employment and will be pro-rated based on the actual number of hours worked each pay-period. BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
You must have successfully completed a full 4-year course of study at an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's degree or higher in natural science or engineering that included at least 30 semester hours in health physics, engineering, radiological science, chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics, and/or calculus. (COPY OF TRANSCRIPTS ARE REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION) OR COMBINATION OF BASIC EDUCATION AND
Experience:
I have a combination of education and experience -- courses as shown in question #1 above, plus appropriate experience or other education; or certification as a health physicist by the American Board of Health Physics, plus appropriate experience and other education that provided an understanding of sciences applicable to health physics comparable to that described in question #1 above. SPECIALIZED
Experience:
You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-7) in Federal Service that has given you the particular knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of a Health Physicist GS-9. Qualifying specialized experience includes utilizing instrumentation used in radiation safety monitoring and radioanalysis; familiarization with the various sources of radiation utilized in a healthcare facility; conducts radiation safety audits of research labs and clinics and prepares detailed reports on findings; coordinates radioactive waste storage and disposal; monitors radiation safety receipt inspection of shipments of radioactive materials. (THIS EXPERIENCE MUST BE SUPPORTED BY YOUR RESUME TO BE CREDITABLE.) OR SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR
Experience:
You must have completed 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree which provided you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. Eighteen semester hours is usually considered equal to an academic year of graduate study. (COPY OF TRANSCRIPTS ARE REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION) OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
You must have a combination of specialized experience and higher-level graduate education, as described above, that demonstrates your ability to perform the duties of a Health Physicist. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
