Opportunity
Oversee staff of Financial Analysis Managers and Analysts in the financial analysis activities that support major segments of the Bank. Provide financial updates and reporting to senior management. Participate in the analysis and provide guidance on investment and project decisions for the segments.
Essential Position Responsibilities
Oversee the management of a minimum of two Financial Analysis Managers who have management authority, generally at the banking officer or assistant vice president level, and who are responsible for directing the day-to-day operations and projects relating the bank s financial status for several major
business segments.
Provide key financial analyses and management reporting by managing various monthly reporting processes, reviewing data, resolving problems, and presenting data to senior management.
Oversee ad hoc reporting such as acquisition analyses, cash flow projections, etc. to support management decisions.
Participate in the development and implementation of Finance department goals.
Communicate and provide direction with senior management regarding fiscal policies.
Responsible for providing organization and leadership on various projects when issues or opportunities arise.
Work within department and across the bank to identify opportunities to reduce expense or increase revenue.
Oversee a minimum of two Financial Analysis Managers with emphasis on the staff development, creating a framework for success, leading by example and creating opportunities for staff. Promote all management success factors.
Exercise managerial authority over staff with respect to hiring, termination, salary recommendations, and performance appraisals.
Nature and Scope
The position's primary responsibility is staff management, managing a minimum of two Financial Analysis Managers who are responsible for direct the day-to-day activities of a major business segment.
The position is responsible for:
Shaping strategy - the capacity to guide analysis and discussion, and influence the outcome for key decisions.
Leadership Versatility ability to effectively work with all levels of employees at the bank including senior
management.
Decisiveness capacity to work in a fast paced environment, handle multiple projects simultaneously and manage
resources appropriately.
Attracting, Retaining, and Developing Talent provide feedback to direct reports and help with career
development as well as having solid track record for recruiting and hiring.
Communication ability to communicate important information and focus on clients requirements at all level of
management.
Supervisory Responsibility
A minimum of two Financial Analysis Managers I/II or an MIS Manager either directly or on a project
basis.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration, Seven years Finance experience and three years supervisory experience or in lieu of degree a minimum of eleven years work experience with three years of that in a supervisory role.
Technical Skills
Excellent personal computer skills with solid knowledge of Excel, Access and other departmental software.
Other Job Information
Strong understanding of financial concepts/theory and how it relates to profitability reporting.
Knowledge of project management concepts and application.
Familiarity with the banking industry, as well as history and performance of M&T.
Solid leadership ability.
