Seeking an experienced Director of Construction to lead this upstate NY General Contractor in managing all construction projects. This position will require the candidate to develop and implement construction strategies, provide leadership and direction, oversee planning, scheduling, and coordination.

Description


The Director of Construction will:


  • Develop and implement comprehensive construction strategies to achieve project objectives while adhering to budgetary constraints and timelines.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the construction team, including project managers, engineers, and subcontractors, to ensure effective project execution and delivery.
  • Oversee the planning, scheduling, and coordination of all construction activities, including procurement, subcontractor management, and site logistics.
  • Monitor project progress and performance, identifying and addressing any issues or obstacles that may arise during the construction process.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, codes, and safety standards, maintaining a safe and secure work environment for all personnel.
  • Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to effectively communicate project requirements, resolve conflicts, and achieve project goals.
  • Manage project budgets and financial forecasts, tracking expenses, and implementing cost-saving measures where possible.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and excellence within the construction team, promoting professional development and knowledge sharing.

Profile


The successful Director of Construction will have the following:


  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction management, with a proven track record of successfully overseeing large-scale projects in both the Multifamily and commercial space, preferably in upstate NY.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve project goals and objectives.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction methods, techniques, and materials, with a focus on sustainable and innovative practices.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools, such as Primavera P6, Procore, or Microsoft Project.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, legal requirements, and risk management principles.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, LEED, or OSHA 30 are a plus.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
