Legal Assistant

Duke, Holzman, Photiadis & Gresens, LLP is a law firm with an office in Buffalo's Larkinville District, providing services to clients in the areas of business and corporate law, civil litigation, construction law, trusts and estates, first-party insurance coverage, labor and employment, personal injury, real estate and environmental and taxation.
The legal assistant will provide legal support to attorneys in a fast-paced environment, and must be able to work both independently and as part of the team.
Applicants should have a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a legal office setting.
Job Responsibilities Schedule meetings, depositions, and interviews Investigate facts regarding cases Maintain client files Prepare pleadings, discovery demands and responses, motions, and other litigation documents File and serve legal documents Prepare client bills Communicate with clients over the phone, in writing and in person.
Work professionally and collaboratively with colleagues, judges, opposing counsel, court personnel, etc.
Attend and participate in meetings and trainings as requested Job Qualifications Bachelor's degree, Associate's degree, paralegal certificate, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience Prior office experience, preferably in a legal environment Proficient with Microsoft Office or related software Willingness to learn new technology CompensationEstimated hourly compensation range is $22 to $28, dependent on experience, plus discretionary year-end bonus.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
