Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and influential Managing Enterprise Architect to join our team at M&T, playing a pivotal role in shaping and driving our strategic direction across technology and business domains.
As a key leader, this position will predominantly focus on serving as a Senior Enterprise Architect for our Commercial Banking division while managing a team of skilled enterprise architects across various lines of business.
This role will be a key contributor to the enhancement and ongoing development of our Enterprise Architecture practice.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership and collaboration skills, engaging with diverse stakeholders at all levels to provide strategic guidance, align technology with business objectives, conduct thorough analyses of current and future architectural landscapes, and adeptly communicate complex concepts tailored to different audiences.
Building robust relationships across technology and business spheres will also be a core responsibility, fostering cohesive alignment and synergy across the organization.

Primary
Responsibilities:
Support Commercial Banking line of business, working with all levels of technology, product and business to provide short- and long-term strategic direction.
Research and analyze current portfolio, current state architecture, business and technical strategies, industry trends and technologies, health and other factors to identify technologies and other opportunities.
Translate into short- and long-term strategic direction.
Provide current and future state, roadmap, portfolio views, value chain and other architecture artifacts to help communicate, align to, and track the strategic direction.
Communication is an important responsibility of this role.
Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization ranging from technical engineers to executive leadership.
Must be able to tailor the communication to the audience, from architecture diagrams to executive presentations.
Build relationships with all roles across technology and business.
Maintain relationships with vendors and professional organizations to remain current on industry trends and best practices for supported systems and businesses.
Manage team of Enterprise Architects spanning multiple lines of business.
Work with reports to create development plans.
Manage task completion.
Exercise usual authority of a manager concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management and terminations.
Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite.
Identify risk and internal controls to mitigate risk in recommendations and architecture.
Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

A combined minimum of 13 years' higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 4 years' engineering and/or architecture experience and 9 years' technology management / program leadership experience including people management Well-rounded technical knowledge in the areas of application, security, data and infrastructure.
5 years of experience working in the financial industry.
5 years of experience as an Enterprise Architect.
Experience rationalizing entire portfolios and identifying opportunities.
Proficiency with pertinent project management, word processing and spreadsheet applications Capable of working on multiple projects of a complex nature Experience on large system enhancements, conversions, and production problem resolution Complete understanding of the system development life cycle Excellent problem-solving skills to assist in issue resolution Familiar with application development software and hardware platforms Understanding business(es) supported and its' terminology Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent analytical skills Excellent decision-making skills Excellent organizational and time management skills Prior experience encouraging teamwork and serving as role model when leading and directing others Understanding of technical, business and operational impacts of a project or problem Confidence in leading multiple teams often in different geographic locations and time zones Prior experience presenting to senior management Education and Experience Preferred:
Master's degree Minimum of 12 years' technology management or large program leadership experience Extensive application, product knowledge experience with skills, application(s) and function of the technology area being led Subject Matter Expert understanding of applications supported with an advanced knowledge of interfacing/integrated applications Understanding of multiple business area's functions Proven mentoring and leadership capabilities from a project management perspective Experience with skills, application(s) and functions of the technology area Good understanding of the Bank's application framework Aware of the Bank's business plan and strategic objectives with ability to shape direction Mastered knowledge and focus of the entire system and support projects outside of normal business-as-usual (BAU) Self-motivated and able to motivate others We support our team members with generous benefits.

The pay range for this position is $150,125.
85 - $250,209.
75 Annual (USD).
The successful candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
