Summary:

edu/) ( SDM ) Compliance Department is currently seeking an Assistant Compliance Officer to support departmental operations.
Under the supervision and direction of the Compliance Officer, the Assistant Compliance Officer will develop and execute an annual SDM compliance plan to meet obligations under applicable HIPAA Privacy, OMIG and Article 28 rules, regulations and guidance.
The incumbent will maintain the highest ethical and professional standards of conduct, and assist the Compliance Officer in developing a culture of compliance at the School of Dental Medicine.
Primary responsibilities include:

Oversee the Compliance Committee operations per Office of the Medicaid Inspector General ( OMIG ) guidance and stand in for SDM Compliance Officer as necessary.

Maintain current SDM Compliance, HIPAA and NYS DOH policy and procedures using OMIGs 7 elements.

Assist in maintaining OMIG communication and training guidance.

Participate in development of communications/marketing plan with Compliance calendar and design of intranet webpages.

Co-lead investigations and provide a response to Compliance incident reports.

Perform gap analyses for HIPAA , OMIG & NYS DOH Article 28 regulations
Coordinate SDM Quality Assurance for CODA (Commission on Dental Accreditation).
The selected candidate will be expected to obtain CHC certifications (Certified Healthcare Compliance) and CHPC (Certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance) from HCCA (Healthcare Compliance Association) within 1 year of hire.

Minimum
Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree in related field
2 years of compliance or compliance related experience.
Preferred
Qualifications:

MBA or JD
JD with experience in project management
Familiarity with local, state and federal regulations as they relate to the provision of dental health care.
