Essential duties and responsibilities which must be performed in order to carry out the position purpose summarized above:
Performs automation and controls systems design, programming, testing, support and maintenance for the Republic Steel Facilities.
Focus on Level 0 through 2 systems.
Provide input into corporate automation standards Troubleshoots current system issues Writes detailed specifications, design guides, user manuals, requests for quotes Manages installation and startup of automation and controls systems projects Communicates regularly with operators and plant maintenance to research, identify and correct problems.
Makes necessary changes for improvements.
Coordinates with supervisors and metallurgists to assure timely and accurate reporting information is available.
Maintains / improves and / or revises applications for effective worker interface with control system using various HMI packages and custom.
NET Framework code.
( VB.
NET or C# or C++) reporting for operators and management.
Troubleshoots and supports networking requirements.
Provides basic installation, backup and troubleshooting support for software packages.
Assures compliance with all company policies.
Supports continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
Associates degree in Computer Science / Engineering or related field of study and 3 years' field experience Bachelor's degree in Computer Science / Engineering or related field of study preferred Demonstrated programming skills and experience with the following PLC's Allen Bradley PLC5, Logix Family, MicroLogix, SLC500 family GE Series 90-70 Siemens S5 and S7 HMI/SCADA Wonderware Intouch Rockwell Automation RSView32, FactoryTalk View SE and ME Programming LanguagesVisual Studio 6 through latest edition (VB and VC).
Databases Microsoft SQL Server Database Oracle Database Device communication and networking.
RS232 / RS422 / RS485 CIP Protocol - Ethernet IP, DeviceNet, ControlNet TCP/IP Ethernet Knowledge of steel making processes preferred Ability to view, interpret and analyze data.
Computer skills:
word processing, spreadsheets, data analysis and retrieval, email and internet.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and the demonstrated ability to interact and relate with multiple levels of personnel.
Required to work in both team and individual environment.
Demonstrated project management experience.
Demonstrated troubleshooting and organizational skills.
Willingness to serve on call 24/7 as required by mill operations.
Essential Physical Demands and Working Environment:
Ability to see, communicate, hear and utilize electronic communication devices.
Office work environment but subject to plant working conditions:
hazardous, dirty and subject to weather and temperature extremes.
