Principal Engineering Technician

As a Principal Engineering Technician, you would perform complex and technical activities in support of various engineering projects and/or program areas. These activities might include generating and or reviewing right of way maps, preparing written reports. You may supervise lower-level technicians in such areas as surveying and right of way mapping. Additionally, you'll review ARMs (Abstract Request Maps), ROW Plans and ROW Acquisitions Maps. Various types as noted below:
o Fee Acquisition. o Permanent Easement. o Temporary Easement. o Transfer of Jurisdiction. o Other unique maps as required, such as Indian Reservation maps. Creation of survey control baselines. Creation of Record Alignments via In-Roads (utilizing COGO geometry) and ORD (Open Roads Designer) with associated record research. Establishment of Highway Boundaries and Record Acquisition limits with associated record research. Reduction of hydraulic survey data into proper format for HEC RAS hydraulic analysis. Provide quality assurance review and advised corrective action of submittals from TASS Consultants of the same as mentioned above. You may also be expected to use various computer applications in the performance of duties. This assignment is with the Design Group and specific program assignments, and duties will be discussed during the interview. At the time of appointment, and continuously thereafter, candidates must be able to demonstrate their ability to meet the travel requirements of the position either by possession of valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State or access to reliable transportation Responsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the department's response to regional and statewide emergency situations.

Salary Range:
From $54903 to $69882 Annually
Minimum Qualification
To be considered for permanent appointment, candidates must be reachable on the current Civil Service eligible list or be eligible for reassignment or transfer in accordance with Civil Service Law. The minimum requirements for taking the Promotion examination are:
You must be a qualified employee of New York State and have had three months of permanent competitive or non-competitive service (including 55-b/55-c) as:
Engineering Geologist, Engineering Materials Analyst, Environmental Engineering Technician 2, Senior Drafting Technician (all parenthetic), Senior Engineering Technician, or Senior Engineering Technician (Soils). The minimum requirements for taking the Open Competitive examination are:
EITHER:
1. FOUR years of experience assisting in engineering technology, architecture, or architectural technology, environmental technology, landscape architecture/design, materials laboratory technology, drafting or surveying, AND graduation from high school or possession of a diploma issued by a recognized educational authority; OR:
2. An associate's degree in mathematics, physical science, geology, engineering or engineering technology, architecture or architectural technology, construction technology, landscape architecture/design, environmental technology, drafting, forestry, surveying, aeronautics, electronics, or electronics technology AND TWO years of experience listed above in number 1; OR:
3. A bachelor's degree in mathematics, physical science, geology, engineering or engineering technology, architecture or architectural technology, construction technology, landscape architecture/design, environmental technology, drafting, forestry, surveying, aeronautics, electronics or electronics technology.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
