Senior Engineering Technician / Engineer Technician Trainee (Region 5)

As a Senior Engineering Technician/Engineering Technician Trainee in Construction, your duties may include the following:
o Inspecting construction projects to assure correct materials are used, and that work is performed in accordance with the plans and specifications. o Take and record measurements and prepare computations to document quantities of various items of work performed by contractors and subcontractors on a project. o Perform a variety of tests, such gradation tests, slump tests, air content tests, moisture content tests, and load and strength tests. o Record results of tests and inspections and prepares daily work reports for supervisors and managers. The use of various computer applications in the performance of assigned duties is expected. Specific program assignments and duties will be discussed at the time of the interview. As a Senior Engineering Technician/Engineering Technician Trainee in Design, your duties may include:
o Assisting engineers in civil engineering work, o Performing and/or checking engineering computations, o Performing varied drafting assignments, o Prepare quantity estimates, and o Perform field investigations. The selected candidates will be expected to use computer applications in the performance of the duties. The assignment could be in the Structures Design, Highway Design, or Technical Support Units. Specific program assignments and duties will be discussed at the time of the interview.

Salary Range:
From $35298 to $59542 Annually
Minimum Qualification
To be considered for permanent appointment, candidates must be reachable on the current Civil Service eligible list or be eligible for reassignment or transfer in accordance with Civil Service Law. If a list does not exist, a provisional appointment may be made in accordance with Civil Service Law. Candidates who accept a provisional appointment must take the next competitive examination and be reachable on the resultant eligible list in order to be considered for permanent appointment to the position. Engineering Technician Trainee, NS=Grade 8:
1. One year of experience assisting in engineering, engineering technology, engineering management technology, architecture or architectural technology, environmental technology, electronics, electronics technology, landscape design, materials laboratory technology, drafting or surveying; and graduation from high school or possession of an equivalent diploma; or 2. 18 semester college credit hours in mathematics, physical science, engineering or engineering technology, architecture or architectural technology, construction technology, environmental technology, landscape architecture/design, drafting, forestry, surveying, aeronautics, or electronics; 3. Graduation from a high school technical education program in CAD/CAM, construction technology, drafting, engineering, engineering graphics or electronics. Note:
Upon successful completion of the 52-week traineeship candidates will be automatically advanced to the Senior Engineering Technician, SG-13. Senior Engineering Technician, Grade 13:
1. Two years of experience assisting in engineering, engineering technology, engineering management technology, architecture or architectural technology, environmental technology, electronics, electronics technology, landscape design, materials laboratory technology, drafting or surveying; and graduation from high school or possession of an equivalent diploma; or 2. Associate's degree in mathematics, physical science, engineering or engineering technology, architecture or architectural technology, construction technology, environmental technology, landscape architecture/design, drafting, forestry, surveying, aeronautics, or electronics. Substitution:
a certificate in CAD/CAM, construction technology, drafting, engineering, engineering graphics or electronics may substitute for one year of the experience; or 36 semester college credit hours in mathematics, physical science, engineering or engineering technology, architecture or architectural technology, construction technology, environmental technology, landscape architecture or landscape design, drafting, forestry, surveying, aeronautics, electronics or electronics technology may substitute for experience at the rate of 18 semester credit hours equaling one year of experience.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
