A Real Estate Specialist 1 works in a Regional Real Estate office under the direction of a Real Estate Specialist 2. Duties include, but are not limited to:
o Determining the values of property to be appropriated for public use, the management of such property and negotiation of a financial settlement with the owners of the property. o Preparing reports of physical inspection, writing appraisals, negotiating claims, and helping to relocate residences and businesses, sign control and other related work. o This position requires travel and fieldwork within a regional area, and occasional travel to other parts of New York State. At the time of appointment and continuously thereafter, possession of valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State is required or otherwise must demonstrate the ability to meet the travel requirements of the position. Responsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the department's response to regional and statewide emergency situations.

In order to be considered for appointment, candidates must be reachable from the appropriate Civil Service eligible list or be eligible for reassignment or transfer in accordance with Civil Service Law.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
