The Investigator 1 duties will include but are not limited to the following:

Salary Range:
From $49202 to $62806 Annually
Minimum Qualification
One year of permanent, contingent permanent, or 55 B/C service allocated to a Grade 14 or higher eligible for transfer and determined to be similar by Civil Service. For transfers, a list of approved titles is available through Civil Service GOT-IT at https:

Qualifications:
Based on the results of the canvass of the current eligible list for the Investigator 1 the Department may elect to make a provisional appointment to this position rather than a permanent appointment. If a provisional appointment is made, the appointed candidate will be required to compete in the next holding of the Investigator 1 exam and be reachable for appointment from the newly established eligible list. The minimum qualifications for Provisional appointment are:
Either Four years of qualifying experience; OR An associate's degree in criminal justice, law enforcement, police science, criminal justice administration, criminology, criminal investigation, police studies, public justice, forensic accounting, forensic psychology, forensic science, economic crime management, or homeland security AND two years of qualifying experience; OR A bachelor's degree or higher in criminal justice, law enforcement, police science, criminal justice administration, criminology, criminal investigation, police studies, public justice, forensic accounting, forensic psychology, forensic science, economic crime management, or homeland security. Experience:
Experience in a field investigative position conducting interviews of witnesses and others, taking written statements and affidavits, collecting and analyzing physical and documentary evidence, and preparing detailed written reports of investigative findings. Non-Qualifying Investigative Experience includes but may not be limited to:
Experience in routine police patrol work, security guard or related security position, tax collector, collector of delinquent accounts, credit checker, legal assistant/attorney, hotel or store detective, loss prevention officer, parole officer, correction officer, guard, inspector, or experience in adoption and/or foster care placement. 55 B/C QUALIFICATIONS Individuals certified eligible for the 55 B/C program under the Governor's Program to Hire Persons/Veterans with Disabilities pursuant to Section 55 B/C of the Civil Service Law will also be considered. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
