Summary:
The Electrophysiology (EP) Program Technical Director for is responsible for the quality of the EP program at CH by performing and supervising adult diagnostic and interventional electrophysiology procedures. Responsible to ensure quality standards are met including technology advances in equipment and software along with staff and physician education and training for EP monitoring/stimulation systems, intra cardiac echo and 3D mapping systems and implantation of all cardiac devices. In addition to assisting the EP physicians with the most complex EP procedures, this position oversees the technical operations required for the performance of routine diagnostics through the advanced interventional electrophysiology procedures. The person must demonstrate a high degree of understanding of the interpretation of cardiac arrhythmias and all invasive EP procedures. The individual must be competent in proper sterile technique and will assist the physician with implantation of permanent pacemakers, ICD's and BiV-ICD's. This associate has expert knowledge and the ability to operate EP specialty equipment; reviews and updates EP procedure manuals and protocols; coordinates and provides staff education for nurses and Cardiovascular/Radiology Technologists, maintains EP staff competencies and training; and assists in coordination of research and quality improvement projects in the EP department.

EDUCATION For ALL Candidates:
Bachelor's degree in Health related field Current BLS Certification Current RCIS certification or International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners CEPS certification within six month of hire date required Additional Education for RN Candidates Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program Current RN licensure in the State of New York Additional Education for Imaging Technician and/or Radiologic Technologist Candidates Graduate of approved Imaging Technician program/school or Radiologic Technology program/school Current New York State Department of Health license/registration Current certificate of registration as an Imaging Technician or Radiologic Technologist with ARRT EXPERIENCE Three (3) years of relevant work experience (within previous 12 months) required in a dedicated Electrophysiology Lab KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY Demonstrated expertise related to Electrophysiology theory and technical skills Ability to effectively teach and precept staff in Electrophysiology theory and technical skills Work requires precision in recording and preparing data, recognizing that errors may have serious consequences for patients Must pay strict attention to detail and maintain alertness to detect evidence of irregularities in tracings as well as equipment malfunctions Must be self-motivated, organized in maintaining workflow, and have the ability to work independently Must demonstrate ethical and professional behaviors at all times in dealing with patients and families as well as medical staff and other hospital personnel Knowledge of cardiac rhythms, cardiac pathophysiology, and cardiovascular medications Familiarity with most office computer applications (MS Office Suite, etc.) and advanced technical skills required to operate EP specialty equipment, specifically 3D Mapping systems for complex ablations Strong verbal and written communication skills Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, healthcare professionals and external vendors WORKING CONDITIONS Hours of work are normally 8 hours per day 5 days a week however, may be required to be available Sunday-Saturday, with varying hours May be required to travel to other CH affiliated locations Good general health necessary in order to stand and walk most of the day Must have the ability to pull, push, and lift patients and equipment Involved in lengthy procedures that may require wearing heavy lead lined aprons for extended periods of time General understanding of radiation protection and radiation safety principles
Salary Range:
$100K -- $150K
Minimum Qualification
Nursing, Program ManagementEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
