The New York State Office of the Attorney General (OAG) is seeking an experienced attorney for the Criminal Enforcement and Financial Crimes Bureau, located in Buffalo. The Bureau investigates and prosecutes criminal acts related to securities fraud, tax fraud, and other white-collar crimes. The Bureau includes attorneys, investigators, auditors, and analysts who conduct complex, long-term criminal investigations and prosecute cases statewide, from charging through conviction.
Job Function

Qualifications:
o A minimum of seven (7) years of New York State prosecutorial experience; o Significant experience in the investigation of white-collar crimes, utilizing techniques such as search warrants, cell-site orders, cooperating witnesses, and forensic analysis of large volumes of documents and financial records; o Substantial grand jury and trial experience; o Excellent communication and writing skills; and the o Selected candidate must be highly motivated and results-oriented. Applicants must reside in (or intend to soon become a resident of) New York State and be admitted to practice law in New York State. In addition, the Public Officers Law requires that attorneys in the Office be citizens of the United States. A two (2) year commitment upon being hired is a condition of employment.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
