Job Description:
Under the direction of the assigned Supervisor or Manager of Patient Financial Services, perform activities including billing and follow-up on denied and underpaid claims.
Secure expected reimbursement from all responsible payers, apply contractual allowances, generate appeals and assign self-payment responsibility.

Qualifications:
LTC HS - High School Diploma or GED required.
2 years of experience in Patient Financial Services experience or two years medical billing experience in a hospital and/or physician environment or equivalent combination of recent billing certification and experience required.
Data entry and clerical keyboard skills required.
Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, and percentages accurately.
Must possess knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and adding machine skills.
Working knowledge of department specific patient accounting systems.
Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
This position requires independent thinking, resourcefulness, solid judgment, and problem solving.
For Employees in Long Term Care (LTC) Accounts Receivable Biller & Collection Clerk the following are Preferred ; Understanding of Benefit Verification and Insurance Determination requirements for Long Term Care, Skilled Nursing Facility, and MRU Services and Benefit.
Knowledge of census management requirements including level of care determination, insurance coverage, plan set up, and authorization requirements upon admission and throughout the residents stay.
Knowledge of changes to insurance coverage and authorization requirements impacted by Level of Care determination and utilization/exhaustion of covered days.
Resident trust account requirements for deposits, disbursements and statement processing.
Knowledge of Resident Admission agreement and ability to address inquiries from the resident and responsible parties regarding resident financial responsibility, billing statements, and resident trust accounts.
