Hearing Officer (Hourly)

State Liquor Authority Administrative Law Judges (ALJ's) conduct administrative hearings in both disciplinary and licensing matters and render fair and impartial decisions. Candidates must have or be able to:
o Preside over hearings following the Rules of the Authority and the State Administrative Procedure Act. o Assist parties who appear without representation. o Conduct legal research on issues pertinent to the matters before them. o Review post hearing briefs and memoranda of law. o Assure a complete record of the proceeding including material presented as exhibits. o Determine credibility of witnesses, summarize relevant facts and relevant law. o Prepare a written report of their findings and conclusions. Shift Information:
These positions are part-time; the schedule will vary based on operational needs.

Salary Range:
From $42.22 to $42.22 Hourly
Minimum Qualification
Admission to the New York State Bar and two years of post-Bar legal experience in the trial of issues in courts of records or trials of adversarial proceedings, quasi-judicial in nature, before a government agency.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
